"You're doing it, Peter!"

I haven't posted in a few days, and here's why: I MOVED! 

That's right. I finally moved out of Beaumont, Texas! I'm not in Austin like I had always planned, I ended up in Columbus, Ohio instead! 

That was our route!

We packed up my car and moved 1123 miles away. We left Thursday morning, drove for 13 hours and stayed at a hotel in Nashville. Then we woke up and drove the last 5 hours to Ohio. The drive really wasn't as bad as I expected! It was pretty scenic, and having my boyfriend to hang out with on the way made it fun. I only cried a few times on the way. Leaving my family and friends was much more difficult than I anticipated. I spent my last weekend in Austin with my brother and sister, New Year's Eve with Omar's family and then the last few days in town at my mom's house. After we had gotten on the road, my sister texted me, "You're doing it, Peter!" (Here, this should help the reference make more sense!) I replied, "FIND MY HAPPY THOUGHT," and we both got really sad. It kinda sucks going somewhere I can't just hop in the car and drive up to see my family. I got a little choked up when we drove through Texarkana, a city my family and I got stuck in after Hurricane Rita in 2005 because our car broke down during evacuation. It sounds awful but we laugh every time we think about it. 

Omar, his friend and myself got an apartment together. It's in a great neighborhood, and it's pretty cozy. We're still in the process of unpacking and getting organized, so it's been a busy few days. We had a little moving in party a few days ago, and I got to meet some of Omar's friends. They're all really fun and super cool. They definitely made me feel welcome.

I haven't gotten to explore the area very well. I would go drive around but I'm intimidated by the snow. I've never had to drive in it before, and I'm scared I'll wreck the car. That would be all I needed right now, haha. Hopefully I'll get accustomed to it quickly. I have to focus my attention on getting a job, too! Income would be nice after being unemployed for four months.
